Now that we have Erika, New Years Eve just means another night at home! The only difference is we gorge ourselves on food all night while watching movies and forcing ourselves to stay awake to see the ball drop!! We had Trent's sister and brother over that night to help us ring in the new year. Its kind of a tradition to make Strombolli (fancy calzone type pizza basically!) in my family on New Years Eve so I made that along with some cheese balls and seven layer bean dip.
We rented Evan Almighty and watched it while the kids ran wild around the house. It was like a three ring circus...they ran through Erika's new tent to the dress up trunk and vanity and then back through the tent to the toy box. It was hilarious to watch them! Here is a picture of Erika and Oakley being calm for 2 seconds!
After the movie was over we turned on Nemo for the kids to watch. It was so cute seeing them all lay down in a row in front of the tv! Too bad it didn't last long!
While the kids were watching Nemo the adults played a game of Life and Trent kicked everyones butt! While playing the game Oakley and Erika were chasing each other around the house and Erika (being the graceful child she is) was watching Oakley and not where she was going and smashed into the corner of a wall creating a nice goosebump. This picture doesn't do it enough justice but you get the point!
Tiffany and her kids ending up leaving early and then Tyson and Lauren went to bed early because Lauren had to work at 5 am so it was just Trent and I watching the ball drop and kissing in the new year! We toasted Martenelli's to the great changes we made in our lives in the last year and all the things we have accomplished and done and to the upcoming year! I don't do New Years resolutions because I never keep any of them past January!! So my goal is to be a happy family this year! Hope everyone had a safe and fun New Years!
