Summer Time Blues

Like many other 4 year olds Erika is constantly wanting to know "what's next". After we eat breakfast she wants to know what we are having for lunch. As soon as she finished one activity she wants to know what we are doing after that. Mornings at our house run fairly smoothly. We eat breakfast. Do some chores. Play a little. Eat lunch. Then things start to fall apart. Lexi goes down for her nap and Erika becomes at a lost for what to do. She usually spends the first 30 minutes playing with toys that she can't play with around Lexi and then is hugging my leg bugging me as to what to do next because she is boooooored. So today we created this:
We had fun creating it in Photoshop and she had fun picking out colors, pictures, fonts, etc. We then typed up a bunch of summer fun ideas and printed them, cut them, folded them, and stuck them all in a container and slapped that picture on the front of it. Each morning Erika will get to draw one activity out and once Lexi gets to go down for her nap Erika will get to do her activity. Some of the ideas in there were:

macaroni necklaces
decorate a cake
paint
play dough
make paper bag puppets
build a fort
make homemade bread
make a magazine collage
sew a blanket for your babies

and there are a ton more in there for her to do as well. So our activity for today was making the summer fun jar and tomorrow she will get to do her first activity and she is so excited! Here's hoping that this will help cure some boredom and restore some of my sanity!
