Memorial Weekend

This past Memorial Weekend is one for the record books. Wednesday night we were working on the trailer and I remembered that I had forgotten to sew curtains. It had to have curtains before we took it anywhere. Don't want anyone watching us change and sleep! So Thursday afternoon and late into the night I spent hunched over the sewing machine sewing curtains.

Thursday night Erika woke up screaming. Erika & Lexi were having a sleepover in the top bunk and it turns out that Lexi threw up all over Erika. Talk about a rude awakening! Lexi threw up a couple more times that night but by the next morning seemed to be doing better. We got the trailed all packed up and ready for its maiden voyage. Trent took the trailer up the canyon and we packed up the car and headed up to the campground. The weather was overcast and sprinkling but nothing too serious. We cooked our dinner and hung out for a while before hitting the sack.

Our sleeping arrangements were Trent & Lexi on the big bed, Erika in the bunk bed, and Riley and I on the couch bed. In the middle of the night we woke up to throw up sounds and I turn on the lights to see Erika leaning over the bunk barfing on Trent. He was AMAZING and stayed so calm even though he had throw up chunks all over his body and face! We got everything cleaned up and Trent took Erika home so they could both have showers and then wash all the blankets.

Saturday morning it was pouring off and on so we spent a lot of time in everyone's trailers eating snacks and hanging out! Lexi kept herself entertained in the mornings by stealing my phone to play games on it!

Riley wanted a turn playing games too...Lexi wasn't willing to share though! Riley is doing her hand signal saying "give me it"

Then Riley would stand up on Lexi's back and reach over to grab the phone so Lexi would move....only to have Riley follow!

Then Riley spotted the camera and forgot about the phone and moved on to other technology!

It cleared up a little Saturday night which was nice when we made dinner but it quickly stormed over again after eating.

Sunday morning Lexi woke up saying she had to go to the bathroom so we climbed out of bed and by the time we got shoes on she had already messed her pants. She had the WORST diarrhea poor girl! We ate some breakfast:

and then I took all the girls home this time and everyone had showers and did some more laundry. People kept asking why we didn't just pack up and go home! It had to get better. We weren't going to pack up...the sun was going to come out and we were going to be healthy and enjoy our camping trip dang it!

When the rain would stop all the kids would go out and ride bikes, scooters, four wheelers. They had a blast! We had to drag them off the toys to come eat!

Nanny & Papa made this fun marble track out of pool noodles and duct tape that kept the kids entertained for a while!

That morning Trent got sick as well and spent most of the afternoon trying to sleep it off in between throwing up behind the trailer! That night it stopped raining and we even saw blue sky for a while which was nice! The girls made tin foil dinners for dinner while all the guys (and our girls!) went to go shoot guns. That night was actually nice and we spent time talking around the fire with everyone.

Lexi had fun hanging out with her cousin Laryn. Those two always looked like they were up to no good when they were with each other. They are like two peas in a pod! It was funny to see them interact!

Monday morning we woke up to blue skies!! Yeah!! Oh yeah and Erika barfing and now both of the girls had diarrhea! We spent a lot of time by the trailer bathroom! Here are all the girls quarantined in their separate areas!

Riley and I were the only ones who felt good all weekend! Riley did really well for her first camping trip! It helps to have a trailer where you can lock the kids in and just let her crawl around and play!

She was perfectly content though sitting in her stroller, in her high chair, or being held!

She did good at staying on her sleeping schedule and took naps regularly in the trailer. I graciously offered to laid down with her a couple times so I could get some reading and shut eye in too!

Despite everything I still enjoyed the weekend and can't wait until we can get back up the canyon! It's amazing how much of a difference having a trailer is! While it was pouring down rain we didn't have to stand up and push the puddles of water off the top of the tent...or all crowd into the middle of the tent and not touch the wet walls and wonder if it is going to start leaking!! We just sat in the trailer while it rained and colored and snacked and played games! Our trailer may be a ghetto 1971 version but I LOVE IT! Here is hoping the next trip up we have sunnier skies!
